County OKs reinvestment zone for development

Guadalupe County Commissioners Court agreed to set up a reinvestment zone for possible tax abatement in the county.

Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher abstained from Tuesday’s vote on the issue because he is part owner of the land in question. The owners of about 440 acres plan to sale to a developer that could receive tax abatements as part of the deal and Kutshcer said he and his wife own about 10 of those acres. He has kept out of the county’s side of the negotiations due to a conflict of interest, Kutscher said.
