Electricity & Rates

Electric power in the Guadalupe Valley region is provided by the GVEC, a member-owned electric cooperative that serves residents and businesses. GVEC’s service area covers approximately 3,500 square miles across 13 counties and serves more than 100,000 meters.

GVEC maintains a reliability rating of 99.9995%, reflecting a strong commitment to dependable electric service for both residents and businesses. The cooperative maintains and monitors its system to ensure consistent power delivery across the region.

GVEC offers several rate classifications and schedules designed to meet the needs of different types of commercial and industrial customers. The appropriate rate class is determined based on factors such as expected monthly kilowatt demand and the operational needs of the business.

Electric bills generally include a Generation and Transmission charge that covers the cost of wholesale power and a Distribution charge that covers the cost of delivering electricity to the customer.
