Local artisan’s design wins praise

Jody Fletcher creates useful pieces of art.

Fletcher, owner of Aus Tex Originals classifies himself as an designer/artisan that builds and creates unique furniture.

Recently, he stepped out of his realm of rustic and created a modern piece that won him recognition at a furniture show.

“I normally work in live edge and barn wood, more rustic, earthy style stuff, but I thought I’d try something a tiny bit more modern,” he said. “It’s a total departure from what I usually do.”

The piece he titled “Educating Elroy” looks like it come straight from the classic cartoon “The Jetsons” — hence the name.  READ MORE...
