GVEC: A History of Robust Services at Competitive Rates

Wednesday, November 15, 2023

Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) was formed in 1938 to get the lights on in a small rural area in south central Texas. Today, this dynamic Coop serves over 120,000 consumers, and does much more than provide electricity. By procuring a mix of wholesale power sources, GVEC reliably meets the ever-growing demands of their consumers at affordable rates–one reason manufacturers love operating in south central Texas! GVEC also provides high-speed Broadband which empowers their customers to work globally.
At GVEC, we know responsible financial management is essential to building a Cooperative you can be confident in. We have an obligation to utilize the resources of our members wisely, using sound judgment in all our business practices. We work to maintain a strong financial foundation that helps stabilize rates and allows the Cooperative to invest in the products and services needed by those we serve.

GVEC Thrives on Overcoming Challenges and Meeting Needs

In addition to providing electricity and electrician services, GVEC supplies air conditioning, heating, and solar and battery storage sales and services. In 2013, the Coop began rolling out the fastest internet technology in the world with its pilot Fiber to the Home (FTTH) project in La Vernia, Texas. It continues to be a prominent high-speed Internet Service Provider.

GVEC covers the Guadalupe Valley through:

• Five customer service centers
