(Seguin) -- The city's dream to have a one stop shop for all things related to development projects is coming true. The Seguin City Council on approved a construction contract of $1.77 million for the creation of a Seguin Development Services Center catty-corner from Seguin City Hall. The construction bid was awarded to The Koehler Company, of Seguin, based on its lowest and best bid for the project.

City Director of Planning Services Pamela Centeno says they received some excellent bids for the work that will be done on the old Cutcher Motors building at the corner of Mountain and River streets.

"There were six bids that came in and came in under budget. We did have a mandatory pre-bid conference. It was very well attended. We took everyone with us over to the building so they were able to see the building, see the project. I think that was very helpful -- the general contractors and the sub contractors which really helped I think in getting a really good price for it. So, we are presenting this. We are very excited to start. One thing that I didn't put in the memo but you do have in the bid tabulations is the approximate timeline and awarding the bid to the low bidder which is the Koehler Company is 240 days so that puts us in there next summer which is very exciting," said Centeno.
