Texas First Lady applauds local business, statewide success

Before heading back to Austin, Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott applauded the Seguin community for putting plenty of heart into doing business. Abbott served as the guest speaker during this year's 98th Annual Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce. Abbott helped the chamber celebrate nearly 100 years of working to support local businesses.
Abbott says chambers have always played an important role in making sure that Texas businesses not only survive, but thrive.
"We can see the proof of that. This year, Texas was again named the best state for business. That's 14 years in a row. And Texas has grown more jobs over the last 10 years than any other state in the nation. Texas also continues to rank at the top for small-business friendliness, for women-owned businesses, and for startup activity. Today, there are more than 2.6 million small businesses in Texas. That is 99.8 percent of all businesses in this great state! Located in our small town main streets, and our big city centers, small businesses are growing right alongside Fortune 500 companies and some of the biggest brands in the world. You could say that everything is bigger in Texas - including our small businesses. They know what we know: Made in Texas is a powerful label," stated Abbott.
