From 2013 to 2014, Travis County, Texas, attracted more new net residents—nearly 62,000—than the next 10 highest-ranked counties for net migration combined, according to data from the IRS.

Call it the allure of Austin. Or maybe it’s the allure of Texas in general.

In the fierce competition to attract and develop skilled talent, Travis County dominates every other county and Texas—with its relatively low cost of living, strong job markets and warm weather—stands above every state.
