New owners, new life for nursery

When Chuck Hildebrand heard Schulz Nursery was closing, she knew she needed to take action.

“When I found out they were closing the nursery it was July 20 and they were planning to dismantle the greenhouses and sell the fixtures on Aug. 1,” Hildebrand said. “We felt we had to to do something and we had to do it quickly.”

Hildebrand and her partner Zachary Norton purchased the historic Marion staple and plan to re-launch the business with a soft opening on Saturday, Sept. 1 and a larger grand opening celebration on Sept. 8.

Hildebrand is a Marion resident returning to her hometown after she and her sister inherited the family farm.
